Description: This arcane ritual implement is known as a three-pronged katsuma kongō in Japanese and vishva-vajra or karma-vajra in Sanskrit. The three prongs symbolize the Three Mysteries: action, word, and thought. The four sets of the three prongs symbolize within Esoteric (Secret) forms of Buddhism that the Three Mysteries radiate throughout the four directions. This shape is also considered the unshakable, unbreakable foundation for spiritual practice.

Vajra (thunderbolt) is emblem of Vajrapani (thunderbolt in hand), originally the special protector of Shakyamuni. The vajra is associated with indestructibility and overwhelming power, and translated into Tibetan as dorje (diamond) for its hardness, quality of the Buddha’s mind.
As a tool for Tibetan ritual it is usually paired with a bell.

The religion also centers around 'anatman', or no-self, the idea that the self is in a state of action or a series of changing manifestations rather than in a state of fixed, metaphysical substance.
