- albumen prints - Photographic prints having albumen as the binder; always black-and-white, though they may be toned to a monochrome hue.
- architecture - Structures or parts of structures that are the result of conscious construction, are of practical use, are relatively stable and permanent, and are of a size and scale appropriate for--but not limited to--habitable buildings. Works of architecture are manifestations of the built environment that is typically classified as fine art, meaning it is generally considered to have aesthetic value, was designed by an architect (whether or not his or her name is known), and constructed with skilled labor. For the art or science of designing and building structures, use "architecture (discipline)."
- black-and-white photographs - Refers to a broad class of photographs having images in gray tones, black, and white, and sometimes one hue (which can result from chemical processes used, including toning, or from aging).
- Egyptian periods - Periods related to Ancient Egypt, often defined in terms of dynasties.
- figures - Representations of humans, animals, or mythical beasts, in any medium.
- monuments - Structures or edifices of importance or historical interest, typically erected in memory of the dead or of an important event.
-
photographs
- Refers to still images produced from radiation-sensitive materials (sensitive to light, electron beams, or nuclear radiation), generally by means of the chemical action of light on a sensitive film, paper, glass, or metal. Photographs may be positive or negative, opaque or transparent. The concept does not include reproductive prints of documents and technical drawings, for which descriptors found under "
" are more appropriate. The concept may include photographs made by digital means. - representation - A manner of expression by the artist in which the subject matter is presented so that the observer is reminded of actual visible forms. However, the subject represented may or may not exist in the visible world. For example, representations may include presentations of subject matter that are invisible to the eye, such as emotions or imaginary events, as if they are visible.
