  • bokashi - A gradation technique used in woodblock printmaking, particularly as mastered by Japanese printmakers. Bokashi is notable in the work of Hokusai and Hiroshige, and is used most frequently in depicting the sky or water and to heighten the illusioni of space. There are multiple variations of the technique.

  • woodcuts - Prints made using the process of woodcut, which is a relief process in which the design is cut into and printed from the plank side of a wood block; distinct from "wood engraving (process)," which is a relief process using the grain end of a wood block.
