Description: M. Carey Thomas frequently held receptions and entertained guests at the Deanery. Her primary dinner service was a large set of Minton porcelain with pink floral details, but she supplemented it with numerous other sets (including Delft and Limoges), such as this set of demitasse teacups and saucers with a "Bombay" pattern. The set was made by John Maddock & Sons, an English company that produced royal vitreous pottery in the 19th century.

  • demitasses - Small coffee cups for serving strong coffee.
