Diomedes of the Great War Cry
Printed on the back of the sheet: "DRAWINGS FOR THE ILIAD In the Fall of 1960 the University of Chicago Press asked Leonard Baskin to prepare a series of drawings for a new illustrated edition of Richard Lattimore''s translation of Homer''s Iliad. The artist creates sixty magnificent ink and wash drawings, forty-eight of which were reproduced in the above edition. Delphic Arts, having acquired the sixty original drawings, announces the publication of a portfolio containing all of the sixty drawings together with three original etchings on Iliad subjects executed this summer by Leonard Baskin...All the drawings have been meticulously and magnificently reproduced by The Meridein Gravure Company on Fabriano, the fine hand-made Italian paper, in the heavy weight...The artist has been intimately involved in the making of these reproductive plates and they bear his full satisfaction and approval." The text goes on to describe the editions being offered for sale, gives their price, and provides the address to which orders may be sent.
