By the early twentieth century, many were calling for an end to this practice, calling it “child slavery”. Lewis Hine was a schoolteacher and photographer, and quit his teaching job in order to become an investigative photographer for the National Child Labor Committee. He took pictures of children working in the streets and in factories, and kept precise documentation of the correct facts and information to back up his images. Numbered 3521.
