Buff clay. Interior is burnished orange. Exterior is orange, worn dark brown. Added red band, added white circle with dot inside of added white. The red slip may indicate an East Greek origin. The fragment has a spot which was misfired. It is possibly a fragment of an oinochoe, as sometimes there are eyes painted on the neck of these vessels. It may be East Greek or Corinthian, but the clay is a bit too orange to be Corinthian. It is probably Archaic in date, belonging to the 7th century BCE. It is not Mycenaean.", "Dedication" : "", "Copyright_Type" : "", "Disp_Obj_Type" : "Possibly East Greek ", "Creation_Place2" : "Greece or Turkey", "Department" : "Archaeology", "Obj_Name" : "sherd", "Period" : "Archaic", "Style" : "", "Edition" : "", "Curator" : "", "Images": [ { "ImagePath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/images/P.1551_BMC_f_2.jpg", "ThumbnailPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Thumbnails/P.1551_BMC_f_2.jpg", "PreviewPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Previews/P.1551_BMC_f_2.jpg", "IIIF_URL": "http://iiif.gallerysystems.com/P.1551_BMC_f_2.jpg", "IsPrimary" : "1", "_SurrogateID" : "47489", "Image_Type" : "", "Photo_Credit" : "", "Remarks" : "", "View" : "" } , { "ImagePath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/images/P.1551_BMC_f.jpg", "ThumbnailPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Thumbnails/P.1551_BMC_f.jpg", "PreviewPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Previews/P.1551_BMC_f.jpg", "IIIF_URL": "http://iiif.gallerysystems.com/P.1551_BMC_f.jpg", "IsPrimary" : "0", "_SurrogateID" : "47597", "Image_Type" : "", "Photo_Credit" : "", "Remarks" : "", "View" : "" } , { "ImagePath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/images/P.1551_BMC_i.jpg", "ThumbnailPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Thumbnails/P.1551_BMC_i.jpg", "PreviewPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Previews/P.1551_BMC_i.jpg", "IIIF_URL": "http://iiif.gallerysystems.com/P.1551_BMC_i.jpg", "IsPrimary" : "0", "_SurrogateID" : "47598", "Image_Type" : "", "Photo_Credit" : "", "Remarks" : "", "View" : "" } , { "ImagePath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/images/P.1551_BMC_a.jpg", "ThumbnailPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Thumbnails/P.1551_BMC_a.jpg", "PreviewPath" : "https://triarte.brynmawr.edu/Media/Previews/P.1551_BMC_a.jpg", "IIIF_URL": "http://iiif.gallerysystems.com/P.1551_BMC_a.jpg", "IsPrimary" : "0", "_SurrogateID" : "64951", "Image_Type" : "", "Photo_Credit" : "", "Remarks" : "Dr. Alexandra Villing from the British Museum provided us with a copy of notes John Boardman took when looking at several object at BMC.
